The local colleges surrounding PHS include: Cal State Fullerton, Cal State LA, Cal State Long Beach, Cal State Dominguez Hills, UCLA, UC Irvine, Whittier College, Rio Hondo Community College, Fullerton College, Cerritos Community College, Mt. San Antonio College (Mt. SAC), and East Los Angeles College (ELAC).

UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA (UC)
The University of California is home to more than 233,000 students and more than 190,000 faculty and staff, with more than 1.7 million alumni living and working around the world. Each year, UC campuses welcome thousands of new students with another 60,000 more on their way over the next decade. The UC system is composed of 10 campuses: nine campuses offer undergraduate and graduate degrees and one campus (UCSF) offers graduate/professional degrees only.

COMMUNITY COLLEGE
The California Community Colleges is the largest system of higher education in the nation, with 2.1 million students attending 112 colleges. Community colleges provide students with the knowledge and background necessary to compete in today’s economy. With a wide range of educational offerings, the colleges provide workforce training, basic courses in English and Math, certificate and degree programs and preparation for transfer to four-year institutions.

There are over 75 private and independent colleges and universities in the state of California. Since each independent college and university is unique, admission requirements vary.
