"Looking at the past must only be a means of understanding more clearly what and who they are so that they can more wisely build the future." -Paulo Freire
Students in my social studies classes learn history "from below." We do not just study an endless series of world leaders and wars, but the stories of people who organized and survived together in the face of fear and hardship. We can all learn to overcome difficulty and take care of one another.
In addition, I teach Study Skills which focuses on Social Thinking for students with disabilities. We practice thinking about others as we interact with them and develop strategies for self-care and communication in the home, workplace, and community.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns. I am here to serve my students and their families.
